Beatles Stamps

The Beatles are to be celebrated on Royal Mail stamps for the first time - more than 40 years after they took the music world by storm. It seems to follow a week of retro news as we reported Top of the Pops and Tiswas make a mini comeback.

A set of six will show some of the Fab Four's most famous album covers. The collection, which goes on sale on January 9th 2007, features Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road, Revolver, Let It Be, Help and With The Beatles.

The "new" album is out now in the UK and looks set to make the Top 10, in what has been the biggest album chart battle of the year.

  3. i have often wondered (and as a postie, you will be able to answer); with these commerative stamps - do many people actually use them to pay for postage, or are they mostly a collectors thing?

aaaand, will they be making the 1st class LARGE beatles stamp? Lol

...the lady in my post office always makes a big deal when someone needs a LARGE stamp (aye aye)

  4. I don't know much about the Post Office side of things but I just found out that 20 million people worldwide collect the special sets like these, so quite alot of those stamps won't ever be used on a letter!

I've checked the Royal Mail website but from what I can see and based on stamp releases so far since the "Pricing in Proportion" structure came in, the special stamps are only on normal sizes not the "large" stamps.
