Entertainment Snippets

The Teletubbies are 10 years old today and don't look a day older than when they first burst onto our screens with their now famous "Eh Oh" "Tubby custard" and "Tubby toast". The life size Teletubbies have been out and about promoting themselves in America, looking as gay as ever. No wonder the show is a hit in 120 countries. Long live the Teletubbies!

In a bid to improve relations with the Middle East, the British government will be sending Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett to the region. She will be in a full veil because she is so hideous and spin doctors are hoping that if Mrs Beckett is covered up with a veil it will end the hostility Britons are experiencing in the region.

David Beckham revealed a brand new haircut to go along Victoria's new blonde look. Fans will be happy it is a normal hair style and easy to copy. The Beckham's were in London last night for the Sport Industry Awards 2007.

Royal Marine rifleman Nathan Thomas Summers, who is currently being held captive by those evil Iranian's, appeared on Iranian TV today looking very much like singer Justin Timberlake. You almost expected those terrible lying Iranian's to force the poor bugger to sing "Sexy Back"

118,000 American's bought the new album by Joss Stone this week, thus proving there are alot of people out there who really ought to be locked up! At least we Brits have moved on from Joss Stone (as seen at the Brit Awards, Feb 2007) - but no wonder the American's like her ....... she sounds like a fake yank. Say no more!

Skins

"Skins" series one just ended recently on Channel 4, but thankfully a new series has been commissioned. The programme has become my favourite programme of the year so far. It features a group of 16/17 year old teenages growing up in Bristol.

Each of the nine episodes featured a character in different situations, some quite funny but each with a serious message. I love it! Such a fresh funny programme with lots of half naked people constantly running around ............................

You can see a collection of cast pictures :

Melanie C - "I Want Candy" Lyrics

This Week's sing along song is Melanie C's "I Want Candy" - how could it not be the song of the week? So, get your hair brush out and if you've got a black cat suit, slip into that as well cos it's time to get sexed up with Miss C..................

I know a girl who's tough but sweet
She's so fine, she can't be beat
Got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire

I want candy
I want candy

Odyssey, with her hair hung down
Ain't no finer girl in town
Candy's just what the doctor ordered
She's so sweet, she makes my mouth water

I want candy
I want candy

(Woo, huh, I want candy, oh, uh, hey)
(I want candy, candy, I want candy, *laugh*)

Hey!
(With her hair hung down)
Hey!
Hey!

Candy on the beach, there's nothing better
But I like candy in slacks and a sweater
Some day soon I'll make you mine
And I'll have candy all the time

I want candy
I want candy
I want candy
I want candy

(Yeah, hey, hey)

Hey! (repeat until fade)

(Hey, Hey, I want candy, uh huh, oh oh, yeah-ah-ah, uh huh,
oh oh, I want candy, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I want candy,
I want candy)

Grey's Anatomy

I might have missed the first series of "Grey's Anatomy" as well as the first double bill of the second series on Channel Five but Sunday evenings have become "Grey's Anatomy" night for me. It's perfect for those cold evenings - the heating is on, junk food at hand and a peaceful evening being a couch potato. Could life get any better?

Girls Aloud - United or Divided?

Girls Aloud are all over the media this week as they topped the UK charts with their third #1 single, "Walk This Way" for the Comic Relief charity. But it's Louis Walsh who is trying to steal the headlines as he went on record saying he thinks the girls should split up after the next studio album, which will be their fifth since winning the reality programme back in December 2002.

Other websites and newspapers have reported that Sarah Harding is set to "quit" the band to join the Arctic Monkeys. We reported the story here on "robmacca" last week and we know Sarah has no plans to switch groups on a permanent basis, so is very much united with her fellow band mates. Sarah is said to be working with Arctic Monkeys front man Alex Tuner. I've not even mentioned the dream I had about Sarah this week..............

All the press stories talking of a possible divide in the group haven't stopped Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle and her Desperate Housewives boyfriend, Jesse Metcalf from apparently becoming united as one! According to the media headlines, The actor is said to be ready to pop the question to the Girls Aloud beauty, after dating her for just over a year.

A source close to the couple said: "They're completely in love. Their romance was sealed after Nadine spent time with Jesse in Los Angeles recently. They are so happy together, despite living on different sides of the world. They have learnt to deal with a transatlantic love affair very well. Marriage is the next step." The couple began dating last February after meeting while they were both in Australia while Nadine was making a documentary.

Rather interesting, since many other reports have Jesse Metcalf in rehab this week following a four day drinking binge at Los Angeles' Mondrian hotel, where he was subsequently banned from.

I've a feeling some of these stories are a little pie in the sky or Jesse Melcalf was still somewhat drunk, just as well Nadine Coyle keeps her knickers well and truly on (as reported today) and is a respectable Catholic girl!!

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend Video

Avril Lavigne has got into my head this week with her new song "Girlfriend", so I'm posting the video and lyrics here on "robmacca" for those who need an Avril Lavigne fix. Now all you have to do is click the video below and sing along. (Hairbrush not provided!)

[Chorus] Hey! Hey! You! You! I don't like your girlfriend! No way! No way! I think you need a new one Hey! Hey! You! You! I could be your girlfriend Hey! Hey! You! You! I know that you like me No way! No way! No it's not a secret Hey! Hey! You! You! I want to be your girlfriend

[Verse 1] You're so fine I want you mine You're so delicious I think about ya all the time You're so addictive Don't you know what I could do to make you feel alright? Don't pretend I think you know I'm damn precious Hell yeah I'm the motherfucking princess I can tell you like me too and you know I'm right

[Bridge] She's like so whatever You could do so much better I think we should get together now And that's what everyone's talking about!

[Chorus] Hey! Hey! You! You! I don't like your girlfriend! No way! No way! I think you need a new one Hey! Hey! You! You! I could be your girlfriend Hey! Hey! You! You! I know that you like me No way! No way! No it's not a secret Hey! Hey! You! You! I want to be your girlfriend

[Verse 2] I can see the way, I see the way you look at me And even when you look away I know you think of me I know you talk about me all the time again and again Now come over here, tell me what I want to hear Better yet make your girlfriend disappear I don't want to hear you say her name ever again (And again and again and again!)

[Bridge] She's like so whatever You could do so much better I think we should get together now And that's what everyone's talking about!

I Want Candy Premier Pictures

It was the premier of the movie "I Want Candy" this week and here's a selection of pictures from the red carpet. Here at "robmacca" - we cut the crap one's and just left in the ones worth viewing............

Hello! Magazine also said:

Melanie Chisholm's trainers, tracksuits and high ponytails have been well and truly consigned to pop history, as she proved when she hit the red carpet for the London premiere of Carmen Electra-vehicle I Want Candy. The former Sporty Spice, who provided the film's title song, was all elegance as she showed off a glossy straight hairstyle and stylishly tailored suit.

Her grown-up look could have something to do with her putting the past behind her, and focusing on the future with her beau, property developer Tom Starr. "Life has moved on for all of us and we are looking to the future," says 33-year-old Melanie, quashing rumours of a Spice Girl reunion. And that future seems to include starting a family in the couple's home in the Monmouthshire village of Catbrook.

"We really wanted somewhere outside London and we fell in love with the area," explained the star to the Wales On Sunday. "It is also a house that would make a wonderful family home. I'm really excited. I daydream about living in Wales and taking the kids to school. I don't want to leave it too late to have children." Those plans might have to wait just a little longer, however, with the release of her single I Want Candy this week and her fourth album This Time out on April 2.

I Want Candy Director Stephen Surjik stands alongside ex-Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, and stars of the film Carmen Electra and Tom Riley.

One Quits, One Returns and One Won't Go Away

One Quits: Emma Bunton (the one on the left of the picture!) is reportedly quitting the music industry following her poor album sales and will instead concerntrate on being a mother.

One Returns: Bjork is returning on May 7th with her sixth studio album called "Volta". It's a return to form along the lines of the 2004 album "Medulla" and is produced by Bjork, who worked with some top notch co-producers Timbaland and Mark Bell.

One Won't Go Away: Gareth Gates bounces up and down more than a new bride on her honeymoon! He's not given up quite yet and has another single out April 9th, called "Changes" - well not all things change and we predict another flop, another comeback, another flop. You get the idea................

Eurovision Cock Up!

It wouldn't be Eurovision without some cock-up or other and Terry Wogan provided us with his best yet this weekend as he announced the wrong winner in the UK's "Making Your Mind Up" contest (as featured on "robmacca" a few days ago).

The UK voting public seem a bit twisted, but they rejected the bookies 3 favourite songs by well known artists, instead making it a show down between Scooch and Cyndi. As you can see in the video above, poor Terry Wogan announced that Cyndi had won and Fern announced that Scooch had won - bringing a few moments of total confusion for everyone. Over 6 million saw the mistake live on BBC1 and were finally told that Scooch were indeed going to be representing the UK in Eurovision this year.

Now you can watch the pop song by Scooch called "Flying The Flag":

The Ripps Rock Leamington!

Patch goes Loco!

Raul and Rachel give it some welly!

Patch goes mental........

The Ripps album "Long Live The Ripps" was released today and I was privileged to be able to pop over to Leamington Spa and watch this Coventry band live for the first time.

I wasn't disappointed as Patch, Raul and Rachel put on a fantastic performance in front of all those present at Fopp Records. Right from the start of Rachel's drum stick clicks until the end as Patch belted out his strong vocals - The Ripps proved that they not only sound great in the studio, but also sound just as great live in front of an audience.

My album arrived from HMV today so I'd not had much chance to listen before the in store performance but the catchy "Holiday" was easily recognisable and has real potential to become their next single. Raul, Rachel and Patch bring out the best in each other and looked like they get on really well off stage as well as on stage. The Ripps prove that Coventry, with all it's faults is a great place to be and a city we can all be proud of.

Watch the 30 second video clip I recorded of The Ripps performing "Loco", their opening track at the performance and also on the album:

The Ripps perform "Loco" live at Fopp Records, Leamington Spa.

The Ripps rock live.

Afterwards Raul, Rachel and Patch chatted to those who had turned up to watch them perform and it made my day when the guys recognised me from MySpace and thanked me for supporting them. Each of them then signed a copy of "Loco" on 7"vinyl, CD single and the new album and were really down to earth and friendly.

If you want to know more visit their MySpace:

You can buy the new album "Long Live The Ripps" for just £7 from Fopp records:

Eurovision: Britain Makes It's Mind Up!

It's that time of the year where the UK voting public vote for the song they want to represent the nation for this years Eurovision Song Contest. Although recent years haven't faired too well for the UK, it hasn't stopped some well known musicians stepping forward for their stab at winning the most ridiculed musical event televised in the UK.
The most famous UK winners were Bucks Fizz back in 1981, and press reports in The Sun say the group look set to perform for the first time in 20 years, during Saturday nights "Making Your Mind Up" show on BBC1. Over 210,000 applications were made for the 600 seats available for the programme, according to Eurovision websites.

This years UK song hopefuls are:
1. Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) & Beverlei Brown
2. Liz McClarnon (Atomic Kitten)
3. Brian Harvey (East 17)
4. Big Bruvaz
5. Scooch
6. Cindi

It's Amazing.................

The picture has nothing to do with todays story, I just put it up for people to perve over. Anyway, it's amazing how people end up on "robmacca", I must have had the most interesting internet search to date: "can you get pregnant from sperm swimming in the bath tub".
Why the hell that search would end up sending a person here is beyond me, but it made me laugh thinking about just what people put into search engines.
For the person who wanted an answer to that question - don't ask the woman below this post (Melanie Brown)!!
Meanwhile, an update on my update - the mobile phone has arrived and should be up and running in the next few days as I transfer all my mobile numbers. I've also been on the phone to Virgin Media this afternoon and so a new modem is on its way to me. Turns out my internet was indeed VERY slow and the new modem should finally mean I get quicker internet. Good news for me as well because those kind people at Virgin have DROPPED my monthly bill by £3.

Mel B: Baby Shower Party

Melanie Brown has been proving she is still very much the Scary Spice Girl she's always been, by hosting a lavish Baby Shower Party at a top Beverly Hills hotel last Friday.

Around 30 invited guests were there as Melanie not only showed off her impressive bump but also saw her cake that was made for the occasion. It was quite fittingly a mothers bump dressed in a leopard skin - her trade make covers while in the Spice Girls.

Among the guests were Melanie's mother who has flown over to be with Melanie, who will be giving birth in the coming weeks. Guests were also treated to expensive bottles of Dom Pérignon champagne. Absent from the party was Eddie Murphy of course, who is busy with new girlfriend Tracey Edmonds. It looks like we won't have to wait much longer now to find out if Eddie Murphy is the real father of this child, as a paternity test is now just a few weeks away as this nine month saga draws to a close..............

robmacca update

Time for another robmacca update since I've been a bit quiet recently..................

Yesterday I finally recovered from food poisoning or a bug I'd got last Wednesday. It wasn't very nice vomiting as I was preparing dinner for my Russian visitors last Thursday evening! I thought I'd recovered but by Monday I had really bad stomach pains so went another 30 hours without eating and a 15 hour sleep to finally shake it off.

The best cure was a night out on the town last night with lots of alcohol - a sure way to test if I was fully recovered! The picture above is me dressed up ready to go out with some friends. I managed to survive - even when we ended up at Jumpin' Jaks!!

It's that time of year where I update my mobile phone contract and I've been so pleased with my Samsung D600, that I'm just upgrading to the D900 free of charge! The new phone will be arriving in the next few days and has a 3 megapixel camera (my current one is a 2 megapixel camera) - so expect even better mobile pictures making their way to the blog in the coming year! I'm sticking with my current O2 contract as 500 mins and 500 texts a month is suiting me very nicely.

Now that I've sorted my mobile out, my next priority has to be my TV/Internet - since ntl merged into Virgin Media, the TV has gone down hill. Virgin Media and Sky fell out and so now we don't have certain Sky channels. Then the other week I didn't have TV at all as Virgin reset the frequency and so for 3 days I had bugger all until they came sorted it out. The "TV On Demand" service has been crap - most times not working, which results in me missing programmes I wanted to catch up on. Finally the internet service is just plain SLOW, most of the times being just 10 mbps - great for watching paint dry!

So I've got to find a better alternative and that I will....................................

Right, that's my update and my moan (after all, it is my blog and I'll cry if I want too!).

Girls Aloud News

Girls Aloud have burst back into the headlines after a well earned break in the New Year. The group are set to release a charity single with Sugababes for Red Nose Day , covering the Run DMC/Aerosmith collaboration "Walk This Way".

The girls are also reported to be working with the Arctic Monkeys, who have already recorded a backing track for a song and will meet up soon to record a joint tune. It's all a bit hush hush at the moment but Sarah Harding is known to be a massive fan of the Sheffield band who made it massive last year with "I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor". The Arctic Monkeys once did a cover of "Love Machine" by Girls Aloud during a live session on Radio 1 in the summer.

Cheryl Cole was in The Sun today, denying she is pregnant. She said: "When I am I won't have a flat stomach like now."

Sarah Harding is a big fan of the Channel 4 show "Skins" - a drama series about a group of teenage friends. She was pictured with some of the stars of the programme at the NME Awards last week and said she wouldn't mind appearing in a cameo role if they made a second series.

Finally Nadine Coyle and Jesse Metcalfe are proving they are very much in love as pictures showed this week...............
