Victoria Beckham's £10m TV Deal

Victoria Beckham’s dream of conquering America came a step closer to reality today after signing a £10 million deal with American television network NBC.

The former Spice Girl will star in her own fly-on-the-wall documentary series which will cover her forthcoming move to Los Angeles, following David Beckham’s, multimillion pound transfer to MLS outfit, Los Angeles Galaxy.

Victoria’s spokeswoman confirmed the news this evening, stating the programme will “look inside her world,” but whilst it will briefly feature her 31-year-old husband, the couple’s three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz will be guarded from the limelight and won’t feature.

The 32-year-old pout princess recently made the trip to LA in the mission of house hunting in time for David to kick-off his American career this summer. She is certain to enlist the help of her new best celeb pals, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to ensure stateside success.

She recently described her family’s move from Madrid to the US as “really exciting,” and it became a decision that had to be “thought about carefully.”

"I'm really looking forward to making new friends and enjoying the sunshine in California," Victoria revealed on her website. It appears that the former Spice Girls manager and close friend of the Beckham’s, Simon Fuller, helped seal Victoria’s NBC deal just as he had with David’s $250 million move to LA Galaxy.

Fuller had earlier hinted of an inevitable deal, telling the London publication, London Lite that, “the Americans were falling over themselves to sign Victoria up for a TV show but we had to choose the right deal for her. NBC won out in the end as they have really taken a shine to Vic’s hilarious sense of humour and they want to capitalise on this. She is a funny lady and this new series will show this to the world. Funny is the key word. Just remember that when the show hits our screens. It will humanise her and give her fans an insight into what she’s really like for the first time.”

Should Fuller continue his streak of current successes, we could witness the re-emergence of what originally made Victoria the tabloid queen she is today, the Spice Girls. Having enviously watched the huge success of the re-united Take That, it’s believed Fuller has an agenda planned on re-launching Britain’s most successful girl group.

Initial murmurs of the TV deal were touted after Victoria had attended her good friend Elton John’s lavish Oscars bash in the early hours of Monday morning at the Pacific Design Centre, Hollywood. Precise details of the series remain sketchy and Beckham’s spokeswoman said matters were still to be finalized and therefore no timescale for transmission could be announced.

Dolly Parton Video Double Bill

Dolly Parton may be best known for having the best knockers in Country Music, but for me she has the best voice in Country as well. My love for all things Dolly were ignited this weekend while watching the film "TransAmerica" (which was very good viewing!).

Dolly wrote and performed the title track to the film with "Travellin' Through", which tells the everyday story of a person's struggle for identity and acceptance by the world around them. The song has a Southern gospel feel to it, that only Dolly Parton could sing so well. But it inspired me to sing my own version this morning, only because I didn't know the words. I would have continued but given the school kids were passing, thought it best to stop incase they thought I was mad!

Anyway, sit back and watch the video and listen to the lyrics and maybe you too can be inspired.

While I was searching the internet for "Travellin' Through", I came across her version of John Lennon's "Imagine". Dolly gives it a good old country feel to it, enjoy........................

The Enemy - The Mania Begins!

"The Enemy" mania has started as this Coventry indie, Brit rock group start their quest for world domination!

The new single "Away from Here" is to be released on April 16th on a Stiff 7", CD format, Picture disk Vinyl and for the first time on i-tunes and had it's first national play on Radio 1 last night during Zane Lowe's programme. He has named it "Hottest Single In The World Today", and rightly so!

You can here the track here: http://www.myspace.com/theenemycoventry
Last week we saw the release of "It's not OK" (as featured here on robmacca) exclusively for the fans and I've got myself some strictly limited 7" singles, as well the one's that were released in the shops (and the CD). I swear I'm going to go into debt as I'm now hooked on this fantastic band. I can't remember getting so excited about a group in ages..............
I think it's great the way the hype is beginning to take hold. How cool that the single wasn't chart eligible because they didn't release a digital format - ON PURPOSE!

I've bought 7 tickets for the final night of their up coming headline tour, which culminates in their home city - Coventry. We are going to party like never before as a new generation of Coventry young people get to celebrate life here, just as the young people did in the days of The Specials.

You may not have heard much of "The Enemy" yet, but I fully recommend getting on the band wagon NOW before it's too late. This is real music, by real people, singing about the real issues affecting people today.

Visit their new website: http://www.theenemy.com/

Watch them perform in Coventry at the end of their last tour, a few weeks ago:

Melanie Brown's UK Return?

As one Spice Girl leaves the country - another looks set to return as rumours about Melanie Brown surfaced recently. With her second baby due in just a few weeks, it seems that Scary Spice may have lost her roar as she looks set to return back to England.

It seems to have gone pear shaped in Los Angeles, firstly her career didn't take off as expected - even with a short stint in the Broadway musical "Rent". Then her UK album almost went un-noticed selling just a few thousand copies in total. Finally it looked like life was on the up when Melanie teamed up with Eddie Murphy, but as soon as the talk of marriage and a sudden pregnancy came along, the dream was over.

A source said: "Melanie has had it with Eddie Murphy and with Los Angeles. The reason she moved there in the first place was to launch her career Stateside but that hasn’t happened."

"She wants to spend more time with her mother and sister. It makes sense to move back."

Look on the bright side Mel - at least you'll be nearer home for the Spice Girls reunion!

Victoria Beckham - Queen of Oscars Fashion

Victoria Beckham may have banned size zero models from promoting her own denim fashion brand but she will be designing Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes' outfits for the Oscars, according to reports.
The couple were planning to wear their usual Armani gear for the ceremony, but Beckham has persuaded them to let her take charge of the designs, according to an inside source.

"Victoria has the most amazing idea of what will look good on both Tom and Katie and has already discussed various fabrics and designs with them," the source told the Daily Star.

"They were originally planning to wear their favourite designer Armani's clothes. But Victoria has convinced them to go with her ideas instead."

Beckham recently helped Holmes with her styling for a magazine photo shoot, and is currently planning a matching black dress for the awards ceremonies. Maybe they could re-use the ones they wore recently together while in Europe, as the picture above shows.

Corporate Greed

Britain's five largest banks all reveal their figures to the city over the coming days, starting with Barclays who announced a staggering 7.14 billion pound profit today. The five leading banks are expected to top £38b between them and this comes at a time when their workers get squeezed more and more in an effort to "cut costs" or "slim line the business". Customers get short changed as bank charges rise and customer satisfaction drops.
All of this brings it back home how corporate greed runs through the veins of British society, and it's the humble worker who slog their guts out for a lousy wage, who are the victims of the board room. Lives are changed at the whim of a management team as costs are brought down and profits are drummed up.
My own work place has become just like that description as "cost savings" become the buzz words and jobs get axed as "we need to save 6% in costs", then next year another figure will be given. We are told that even though we voted "No" to the latest round of job cuts, that result will be ignored and instead of 37 jobs going - it could become 55! On top of that we'll have a new ballot until we say "Yes".
Workers in Britain have become so weak, we lie down and take whatever employers throw at us - because it is the expected norm. Would French workers put up with this? NO! Would Italian workers stand for deteriorating conditions? NEVER! But it's perfectly acceptable in Britain, no wonder businesses love Britain - they can get away with it!
Oh how I wish we'd have a workers revolution, where true social justice replaces the greed of companies like Barclays, Peugeot or Royal Mail.

Spice Girls Reunion - Late 2007

The Spice Girls are set for a huge reunion concert this autumn - six years after they split.
All five former members of the Girl Power phenomenon are said to be agreed in principle to a charity concert in London followed by a national tour.

The reunion comes after the success of the Take That revival. The girls would appear with Nineties band Boyzone, who are also reforming, according to industry figures.

"They are really keen to do it if there is a charity angle. They are talking about doing it for Bono's Red campaign. It's been on the cards for a while, at least a couple of months. They are all good friends now," said one source.

Senior executives at TV production company Emap TV, who want to broadcast the concert, are flying to Los Angeles this weekend for detailed talks with Simon Fuller, the band's former manager, who still represents Victoria Beckham.

One sticking point is said to be their £ 2.5 million- a- head demands for the broadcast rights to the charity concert and tour. Ticket receipts for the concert itself would go to charity.

Details of the concert are still being negotiated but it would have to be after the birth of Baby Spice Emma Bunton's first baby in the summer. Scary Spice Melanie Brown is also due to give birth in March. Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell had a daughter, Bluebell Madonna last May. The fifth member is Sporty Spice Melanie Chisholm.

The plans involve a concert at a huge London venue, possibly Hyde Park, in September or October.

It will be 11 years after the Spice Girls exploded on to the pop scene with their debut single Wannabe, still the biggest selling single by an all-female group. A further eight No 1s followed before they broke up in February 2001 after record sales of 55 million. Halliwell left the band in 1998. The Beckhams are close to U2 front man Bono, whose Red campaign raises money to help victims of Aids. Last year David appeared in a TV advert for the Motorola's Red Razr mobile phone, which generates a contribution to the charity every time it is used.

There have been a succession of rumours about a reunion, particularly at the time of the Live 8 concert in 2005. Earlier this month Beckham, Bunton and Halliwell were spotted having dinner together at Nobu restaurant in London, leading to renewed speculation.

Bunton was recently asked about a reunion on the Richard and Judy TV show and replied: "I would love to. Even the other girls have said they'd love to do it. It would be great."

Emma Bunton: "Too Busy To Marry"

Emma Bunton popped into the offices of The Sun a few days ago and gave readers a chance to put some questions forward for her to answer.............

Hi Emma - I ask this question on behalf of ALL your fans. When is Jade going to make an honest woman of you and propose? - Onur, Turkey

"We have talked about marriage, but Jade and I are taking each day as it comes at the moment.
There is obviously a lot to get together.
I want a very intimate, private thing - and it's just about finding the time to plan things. And I'm not very good at that!
I would love Jade to propose, but it's not going to happen yet."

Hi Emma, how did Jade and your friends and family react when you told them about the baby? - Bruna, Brazil

"Jade's been amazing. We haven't stopped smiling since we found out. It's been such an amazing start to the new year.
It's so new and so exciting. My mum was over the moon.
I'm 31 now and I've talked a lot in the past about how much I wanted to start a family, so everyone is really pleased.
I've had lots of messages of support from fans and I really appreciate every one."

Hey Emma, I hear you have a new puppy. How is she getting on and is Jade good with her? Because men who are good with puppies are good with babies. - Jenny, Glasgow

"My new puppy Phoebe is gorgeous.
She's 10 weeks now and Jade bought her for my birthday.
She's a little bit naughty like all puppies are, biting things.
I've had two dogs before when I was living at home, so this is our first pet together.
In answer to the last part of your question - he's been brilliant!"

Do you know that the fans on your official website (including me) are all getting together and buying lots of things for you and the baby? What would you like? - Kevin, Edinburgh

"I'm gobsmacked. That is amazing. The support I've had from fans throughout my whole career has been wonderful and I really can't thank you enough.
However what I'd really like is for you to donate the money you've raised to a really good charity."

Geri and Emma hit the town on a night out

We all saw the photos of you out and about the town with former Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham. What did you talk about? - Kevin, Edinburgh

"It was seriously real girly stuff. We had a lovely time catching up and talking about all those things that girls do.
They're both doing so well and I'm so pleased we've all stayed in contact.
Since I found out I was pregnant they have been lovely.
In fact I've spoken to all the girls from the band and they're all so happy for me and being so supportive.
They knew I was really looking forward to this time.
It's another great reason for us all to stay in touch and I hope all our kids will be friends too.
Also I really love LA - so I've told Victoria it's nice I've now got somewhere to stay."

I know you all get asked this all the time - but will the Spice Girls ever get back together? - Stephen, Manchester

"It's so flattering that people still think and write about us getting back together.
There was a poll about 'which band would you like to see reform' and we won, which we all find so lovely.
Personally I would love to get back together and I know in the past they've all said the same thing.
But the problem is getting us all to think the same thing at the same time.
It did nearly happen for Live 8, but one of the girls was in a contract so we couldn't do it. It was such a shame.
Plus with all these kids running around I'm not sure we'll have time!"

Do you find it strange that your old pal Posh is now one of the world's biggest style icons and most famous faces? Will you be borrowing her maternity wear? -
Carla, Leeds

"I see her in the same way as everyone else does - as an icon. She has an amazing style.
I must admit I do look at Victoria and think: "What nail varnish has she got on this week?"
She's brilliant and I'm so so pleased for her.
I'm not at the stage yet where I'm borrowing maternity clothes but hers were fabulous."

Hi Emma, what is the next single you are going to release from the album? -Paul, Liverpool

"I know other people have written in to ask what it will be too, but I honestly don't even know myself yet.
I love Another Town - it's really fun and has a good up vibe to it - and Undressing You, which is a bit saucy.
Lots of fans have asked me to release Mischievous, which I wrote with Cathy Dennis, so that is definitely in the running too."

The new single "All I Need To Know" is out now!

Brit Awards 2007 Pictures and News

Amy Winehouse scooped Best British Female Award, ahead of outspoken Lily Allen and staggered to the stage looking rather tipsy to accept her award. Rather fittingly she sang "Rehab" during the Brits Awards - which seemed to be a theme of the night, as news of Robbie Williams being admitted to a rehab centre in America and Oasis star Liam looking worse for ware fitted nicely into the show.

The Scissor Sisters got this live Brit Awards off to a flamboyant start and a terrific stage with the hugely popular "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" but lost out this year to The Killers for Best International Group.

Josh Stone seemed to be suffering from "ego overdose", and was easily the worst person presenting an award (she presented James Morrison with Best Male Artist). While it was a big well done for James Morrison, it was a big no-no for Ms Stone as she tried to sound American and was rather annoying.

Nelly Furtado rightly won Best International Female and went on to thank Britain, declaring her love for The Brits having fought off the likes of Pink to win.

Voting for "Best British Single" continued into the Awards show, yet it was Take That who bagged the Brit for "Patience", which they performed earlier while the phone lines were still open to vote! Lads - just what were you thinking with your hair styles tonight!!??

The most emotional moment of the night came when Jason Orange added: "The first time Take That happened I cut my dad out of the picture for whatever reason. But he's here tonight. Love you."

Oasis rounded off a trouble free night as they sang a medaly of tracks as they collected their Outstanding Contribution Award, with Liam saying he'd have to make do with it since they don't get awards anymore. Noel thanked everyone who had ever bought thier records. Liam was also heard moaning about the lenght of introduction Russell Brand gave to the group!

Girls Aloud plan to cover some of the Spice Girls' greatest hits when they go on tour later this year. The singers are currently working on the set list for the tour before rehearsals start in April, and the girls are keen to pay tribute to their pop predecessors.

For this tour they'll do a number of the Spice's most well-known tunes."They'll sing Wannabe, Spice Up Your Life, Stop and maybe one of their ballads."

Melanie C News

Melanie C is a busy girl as usual, soon to be appearing in BBC2's "Never Mind The Buzzcocks" (24th Feb) and with a new hair style, as the picture above shows. Melanie has been in the press recently as news about Emma Bunton's pregnancy became public, and it's no secret the more feminine would love to become a mother. She is the only Spice Girl who has yet to conceive but she admits boyfriend Thomas Starr is a busy man! But the next studio album may well be the last if she becomes a mother and it is interesting to see the new album has a more mellow feel to it than the rockier "Beautiful Intentions", giving further indication of the direction she is going.
The UK will be seeing more of Melanie over the coming weeks as she begins promoting her new single "I Want Candy", which is out in March meanwhile in Europe she has the beautiful balled "The Moment You Believe" coming out.
Just to keep the Spice Girls reunion stories alive, the press have been reporting that they are apparently planning a gig ''bigger than Live8''. But you can't believe everything you read in the Daily Star!

Whitney Houston Day

Whitney Houston may be written off by the press, as The Enquirer picture above shows - but I'm paying tribute to 3 decades of great music Whitney has shared with the world.
If people think X-Factor's Leona can sing, then just pop in a Whitney Houston CD/MP3 and listen to one of the most soulful voices this world has ever heard.

It's easy to forget the good work an artist has done just because they make a few mistakes or go off the rails. Yet who could forget the heart felt ballads like "I Will Always Love You", "It's Not Right But It's Okay" and "Greatest Love Of All"? Great songs to sing along to on a cold winters day as your sat in front of the fire - even better if your sharing it with someone you love........
* Maybe it's that out of date korma kicking in and my body is beginning to shut down finally!

The Enemy - "It's Not OK"

The Enemy are the biggest group to come out of Coventry since The Specials, back in the early 80's. They are tipped to become big in 2007, so robmacca is proud to jump on this growing band wagon in supporting these 3 lads from Coventry.

They have had rave reviews in the NME and can be seen up and down the country supporting acts such as Kasabian and Fratellis, as well as gigs of their own - starting tonight in their home city at a sold out Colloseum.

They have a new single out this Monday entitles "It's Not OK" and the lads will be paying homage to Coventry once again this Wednesday, as they sign copies of their new single at HMV (18:00). Sadly, they are no longer able to perform a live set that night as the local council have refused permission (stupid buggers!).

Being a Coventarian is made all the much better as good things come out of the city and people can see a positive side about being from Coventry!

You can view their lastest video "It's Not OK" below, if your from Coventry you may just notice quite a few places in the video. You can also check out the group at:

Wank Week Cancelled!

Channel 4 have pulled off (excuse the pun), their planned "Wank Week" as first reported here on robmacca's Blog last year Britain's First Wank a thon.

It follows a controversial few weeks for the channel after the Celebrity Big Brother "racism" fall out.
A series of documentaries about masturbation scheduled for next month have been pulled from the channel's schedule and may be broadcast outside a themed week at a later date.

The three films included Masturbation for Women, in which three women "experience the revolutionary masturbation tutorials of Dr. Betty Dodson, the world's first orgasm coach"; I Can't Stop Wanking, described as "an entertaining, thoughtful and moving film" that follows two men addicted to masturbation; and a film that follows the organisers and participants of last year's Masturbate-a-Thon in London.

I guess it couldn't have cum at a worse time!

Coventry Tops Sex Toy Survey

Coventry has topped a rather erotic poll conducted by condom makers Durex, that revealed the city is the "Sex Toy" capital of Britain. A stunning 57% of those that responded to the survey said they owned a sex aid.

The survey also found that almost 20% of Coventarians said they had sex more than once a day, which might explain why the streets get a little quiet at night!

Rather worryingly for doctors, was the number of people who said they didn't always use protection with a partner whose sexual history they didn't know (almost 20%), which explains why there has been a gradual increase in sexually transmitted infections.

In other Coventry related news, one of MySpace friends, Whats on in Cov!? sent me a video of some lads rapping about Coventry! You can watch the video below. The video coincides with the "Made In Coventry" event, held at the Ricoh Arena last weekend. World famous break dancer B-Boy Crumbs was in the city helping out local dancers Kombat Breakers put together a routine for the event.

Two Years of Blogging!

Well folks it's been two years exactly since I started Blogging and I'm still loving it.
It would have been easy just to start blogging and then stop once I "got bored" yet blogging has stood the test of time for me.

I like the randomness (with a touch of Spice influence) of what I post - it doesn't matter if no-one ever reads it because I will carry on posting topics anyway!

Here I am, just one guy out of over 6 billion and in the two years and yet "robmacca" has attracted 12,200 visitors viewing 18,911 pages. This year has been the biggest distraction because of MySpace and sex but they won't stop me blogging.

I owe my blogging experience to Angie: http://forums.denden.co.uk/angie/blogger/blogger.html

Along the way I've met some lovely bloggers and had some great times communicating the issues that matter to me and having fun in the interactive world we call the internet!

Here is a reminder of my very first blog post two years ago today...........

I`m testing this out, it`s late on a Friday and I thought it was about time I got the robmacca Blog going...........

British Winter Mornings

I took these three pictures this morning (about 07:30am) - if you look closely at 2 & 3 you will be able to see the full moon in the crisp clear morning sky. I love the British winter mornings as frost covers the ground and the sun rises over the sleeping city. The top picture features a selection of bare trees on the London Road, Coventry and reveal the beauty that winter can bring when we open our eyes and look around us. Being a postie helps me enjoy the weather and wildlife even more...................
Did I mention it's a full moon this weekend?
My favourite part of the month, as my hormones really get going!

Britain in Crisis?

Is Great Britain in crisis?

With the arrests of nine men in Birmingham over the alleged plot to kidnap a British solider on his return to Britain and televise him being beheaded, the recent drama about "racism" in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Britain's steel maker Corus being sold to India's Tata, Scotland's ever increasing call for the break up of "the Union" and many other such stories, one can't help but feel Britain is in crisis.

It's sad to think that a tiny, but growing number of British Muslims, are willing to kill another British person in a bid to divide our culturally rich land. What these extremists do by their "racist" attacks on other Britons, is create new extremists from the white community. As I listen to every day conversations I have a sense that we are heading for a future melt down. Where communities have lived side by side for many years in peace and tolerance, the work of extreme Muslims and right wing Brits will undo the good intergration and "force" people to a more extreme view.

Britain as we know it is changing, culturally and economically and we need to guard against taking the narrow minded view, but at the same time we need to openly discuss issues as they arise - as seen by the Big Brother "race" issue recently. While you may not agree with the outcome, the fact it raised healthy debates about race/upbringing/ignorance/bullying/minorities and caused the nation to examine itself and its attitudes more closely.

The business world has changed as China and India become the emerging powers and counties like Great Britain, that once ruled the business world, become secondary. The sale of Corus (formally British Steel) to India's Tata demonstrates this clearly that things have turned. As we become "weaker" the 300 year Act of Union between England and Scotland looks increasingly likely to fall apart as the Scots call for independence.

All of these stories lead to the question "Is Britain in Crisis?" - 2007 will be an interesting year in answering this very question.
