Madness @ Glastonbury
Madness put the FUN back into Funhouse and the STEP back into SKA, they lived up to their name at Glastonbury by delivering a set that lifted the spirits of all those in attendance. It was a hard act following the one and only Tom Jones, but somehow Suggs and the crew managed to entertain the masses in their own unique way.
I found myself dancing along to the upbeat 'Baggy Trousers', 'Our House' and the amazing 'Night Boat To Cairo'. Not forgetting the string of hits in between as the band stood proud on stage and the crowd lapped up the entertainment. Who could forget the encore where Madness had to turn their backs on the crowd because they didn't have time to go off for the encore? Classic!
Madness blended in their newer tracks in with their older hits with such ease with Suggs being his usual madcap self on stage. It's hard to believe the band have been around for 30 years or so, they sound as fresh today as they did back then. The end result was just the same - a very satisfied audience............
