Patrick McGoohan who became a 60's cult legend in The Prisoner has died at the age of 80 in Los Angeles. The Prisoner was filmed in the North Wales village of Portmeirion and starred McGoohan as Number 6 as well as producing and writing a number of episodes. Patrick turned down offers to play James Bond and The Saint as he maintained a moral standard that earned him much respect in the industry. The Prisoner will always remain his most outstanding work and plans are underway to re-make the programme for ITV as a six part venture with American broadcasters AMC. James Caviezel will play Number 6 and Sir Ian McKellen will be Number Two.
