British acts had a great 2008, as the five best selling albums globally were all British, according to official figures. Coldplay led the way with Viva La Vida, selling almost seven million copies around the world during 2008.Amy Winehouse continued selling 'Back To Black' by the bucket load, even though it was released in 2006, it has continued to sell around the world.

* Singles sales up by a third to 115 million
* Album downloads up 65% on 2007 figures.
