C'mon England!

All around the country, footie fans have gone England crazy - flags are everywhere and there is a sense of national pride as we cheer on our football team. But for me, it's a chance to be proud of being "English" rather than just "British".
Not in a wrong sort of way, but finally proud we are celebrating who we are as a nation. I like the fact that people who have made England their home as well are also proud to fly the English flag.

For too long we've just sat back while the other countries that make up the United Kingom (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland), are all proud of their national identity. It seems that finally the English are begining to claim their identity. Which is good, when done in a non racist way.

  1. Quite the English fan, I was disappointed! Beckham's kick was probably the only saving grace. Crouch did not stand up either.
But I still haven't given up on them; let's see what they do in the next round.
