Last year Elbow won the Mercury Award, beating the likes of Estelle and The Last Shadow Puppets. I'd advise catching two of the nominees - The Invisible and Friendly Fires this weekend at Standon Calling festival ( http://www.standon-calling.com/ ) just outside of london. I've been two years running and had a hoot on all occasions. Last year they showcased Glasvegas and Florence and the Machine - clearly a premonitionary talent for spotting mercury-worthy budding acts. BE THERE.
