Futurama Cast Axed

The cast of Futurama have been axed from the new series due to air on Comedy Central in mid-2010, after the network and cast were unable to meet the salary demands.

Auditions will be held to replace the voices of John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, Billy West, Tress MacNeille and Katey Sagal. Futurama will be coming back with 26 new episodes, having been revived by Comedy Central following the success of the DVDs.

It is believed the Futurama cast wanted substantial wage increases and this is not the first time Matt Groening, who co-created "Futurama" with David X. Cohen have faced such problems with the cast of The Simpsons over the years. Thankfully in that instance the two sides reached an agreement, but casting directors are on hand to replace the Futurama cast if an agreement cannot be reached.
