The Godiva Festival is Coventry's largest Festival of the year and is held at the Memorial Park from Friday evening until Sunday evening. ( www.visitcoventry.co.uk/Godiva ) Even though I have lived in Coventry all my life I had never ventured to this event - until Friday evening, when Andy, Kelly , Alex and myself trooped off to see some local musicians play at one of the tents. The Beer Tent always looks appealing and I wouldn't have minded going into the Comedy Tent but we were busy chatting and stuff. The evening came to a close with a fire work display - not bad as the whole weekend is FREE.

Well done Coventry - you did me proud.

Thurs: Coombe Park Walk

1-3 Coombe Abbey Country Park, Coventry.

Spent Thursday afternoon at Coombe Abbey going on a long walk with Alex, which turned out to be very enjoyable because it was nice and quiet but also very beautiful. Pity you can no longer go inside the Abbey since it is now a private hotel. As a kid I remember playing at the Abbey and trying to peer inside the dungeon but alas it's all a private hotel now!
The gardens and estates looked perfect and made the walk even better, thankfully all the children were at school so it was stress free.........

Friends Reunited

Wednesday night was a chance to catch up with some old friends and a good excuse to drink lots of alcohol. (Not having work Thurs made it easier!)
I had not been out on a night out with Matthew for a few years and it was certainly a good night of catching up and laughing about the "old" days. Although I didn't really know Steve, he seemed like a funny guy. The meal beforehand with Martin and Paul was the first time I'd been out with them this year (Food was yummy!). Alex was also with us as we joined Matt and Steve in "Prague" for a few - the pints began to flow as we ventured to the "Newt" ......... Well it was £1 a drink once you paid to get in!
Staggered on the our last destination "The Lounge" for a final "one for the road" lager. By then we were much louder and I'm sure the bar staff had a chuckle as well. Poor Martin had to be in work for 08:30 - I wonder if he made it??!!

Sunday in Warwick

The sun was shining so what better chance to enjoy Sunday than going for a drive to the nearby town of Warwick. Alex and I parked the car and had a walk around the park before going into the town and looking around the History Museum. It was funky seeing the live beehive - I could have watched them for hours!
The castle looked great from the outside, one of these days I'll get inside to have a proper view. It was a great lazy afternoon and the day was rounded out nicely by visiting my mates Andy and Kelly for some food in the garden and a good chin wag.

Big Brother6 ..... Evict Craig.

As harsh as it may sound - but will someone PLEASE evict the lump of lard from the Big Brother house.
The "I'm not gay really" attention seeking hairdresser has GOT TO GO.
He has the biggest boobs in the house now that Saskia has been evicted. How long will it be before the others notice that Craig is a curse? First Team Britney with Lesley was doomed from the start and then when he sided with Team Saskia it ended in failure. As the picture shows - Craig will only be landing a deal with Slim Fast when he gets out of the house. (It's my Blogg so I can be as rude as I like!!)

Live8

It will be the biggest event that anyone under 25 years old will have seen but for us over that age will perhaps be a bit more cynical. A lot of the acts were a re-hash from 20 years ago. The reality is that once the hype has died down - Africa will still be starving and thousands will die each day. The world leaders will promise much next week but selfish mankind will ensure that the dream fails to become reality.
Am I being negative?? Nope , I'm just being a realist. Yes Madonna looked FAB , yes it was a great event and yes I would like to see the world changed but history is a good teacher and no amount of singing will change the hearts of those that lord it over the weaker among society.

Fun in Birmingham........

A great day out in Birmingham, shop til you drop and eat til your stuffed. May Pizza Huts last forever ( I recommend Blossom Hill wine !!) I'm not going to tell you what I bought except for the Muppet collection as seen in the other post.

Muppet Madness

You might or might not remember "The Muppets", but for me it is a big childhood memory (simply cos I don't remember alot of things).
Well............ I couldn't help but spend my hard earnt money on 10 Muppet toys - it was an impulse buy which I couldn't afford but hey ho, you only live once and I justified it by thinking "ebay" (Like I'll ever sell them!!).
How could I buy 1 and not the other 9 ?

It's amazing what you can see when your out and about in the city! While walking through the city I stumbled across a Dr Who "Delek" loose in the shops - maybe he was out buying the new Dr Who DVD??!!
Thankfully I was able to take the picture without being "exterminated".
