Teenagers are spending 31 hours a week online, according to a study released this week. This includes nearly 2 hours a week looking a porn, another increasing problem as addictions increase. The full-time online generation have replaced watching TV or playing outside in a new virtual world.
The results of the 1,000 teenagers revealed that they spend three and a half hours on MSN Messenger, 2 hours on YouTube and in chat rooms. One in four spoke regularly to strangers but said it was harmless. A third said they try and hide what they are looking at if a parent walks into the room.
The www.cybersentinel.co.uk results were highlighted in the Daily Telegraph today, pointing out the dangers as well as showing how the internet can be used as a great source for educational purposes.
