Ne-Yo Tells Leona Lewis To Tour

R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo has told Leona Lewis she should overcome her shyness and get out on tour. The 29 year-old American star had a #1 in the UK last year with 'Closer' and he is working on tracks for Leona and Mary J Blige.

Ne-Yo became friends with Leona Lewis when she spent time in America working on her multi-million selling album 'Spirit' but says, "Leona is very shy, which could be a good or bad thing." The X Factor winner has yet to go on tour and Ne-Yo advised her, "In this business, people want to know you so you’ve got to be willing to give it."

He will be in the UK in June for his own O2 Arena shows and would love nothing better than to see Leona Lewis doing the same, "I hope she starts doing shows to build up her stage presence as it’s something you have to train for."

Leon Jackson Dropped By Sony

Former X Factor winner Leon Jackson has been dropped from his record label Sony after he failed to transfer his popularity from the TV show to record sales. Although his debut album 'Right Now' entered the UK album chart at #3, selling 130,000 copies. His single 'Don't Call This Love' was pipped to the #1 chart position by Peter Kay's character Geraldine McQueen with her spoof reality 'Winner's Song'. After this humiliation, the singer was doomed.

In a competitive market, Leon Jackson just couldn't compete with the other 'reality stars'. Leona Lewis was marketed so differently and given a better image, where as Leon was rushed and rough in comparison. Expect him to show up in a pantomime near you this Christmas!

Google UK Street View Launched

Google have launched Street View in the UK and now it is possible to walk up and down streets, thanks to the pictures covering 22,369 miles of UK streets by customised camera cars.

The service is free on Google and VERY addictive with Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Oxford, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Nottingham, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Southampton, Swansea and York all added. You can zoom in and out, cross the road and go virtually anywhere.

Isle of Wight Festival Acts Revealed

The Isle of Wight Festival 2009 has plenty of established bands putting in an appearance this year, with The Prodigy (pictured above) set to engulf the island with their dance stomping tracks. The festival takes place 12-14 June at Seaclose Park and dates back to 1968, where Marc Bolan performed for the one day festival.

Madonna To Release Another Greatest Hits

Madonna will be releasing yet another Greatest Hits album in September as she parts company from Warner Records, bringing their 27 year partnership to an end. Fans can expect new material on the collection because Madonna is heading back into the studio, Guy Oseary asked fans on Twitter which tunes they think should be included.

Previously Madonna released The Immaculate Collection in 1990 and GHV2 in 2001 but this next Greatest Hits brings down the curtain on her time at Warner - selling over 200 million albums over the years. The singer signed a $120 million (£86.6m) deal with concert promoter Live Nation, according to the press.

Zac Efron: Interview Pictures

These Zac Efron pictures by Mikael Jansson for the latest edition of Interview magazine show the High School Musical star in a whole new light as he seeks to lose that squeaky clean Disney image. Interview magazine goes on sale next week and the website has the full interview with Zac.

The Apprentice returns for a brand new series next Wednesday (25/03/09) but already one of the contestants has dropped out, leaving 15 other young hopefuls with the arduous task of pleasing multi-millionaire Sir Alan Sugar for the next twelve weeks.

Radio 1 Big Weekend Heads To Swindon

Snow Patrol and N-Dubz will be appearing at the ninth Radio 1's Big Weekend and this year it will be held in Swindon, with up to 40,000 free tickets becoming available over the two days. Lydiard Park will be home for the festival on the weekend of May 9/10th with a whole list of artists to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Four stages are to be placed in the park and most of the tickets will be allocated to local people in Swindon with live coverage on Radio 1 as well as highlights on BBC 3. Tickets for last year's Radio 1 Big Weekend became hot property after it was announced Madonna would be headlining the festival in Kent. Countdown To Be Axed?

Countdown looks more and more likely to be axed as the long running Channel 4 show is booted out of it's Yorkshire home thanks to cuts made by ITV. The Yorkshire TV studios in Leeds are being closed down and many are being made redundant as filming moves to Manchester in the latest cost-cutting move.

Since new presenters Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley took over from Des O'Conner and Carol Vorderman in January, viewing figures have failed to increase - now the show is often watched by less than a million viewers. The steady decline saw the show lose half their viewers since 2002 and Countdown's rating no longer appear in Channel 4's Top 10 like it did back in the days of Richard Whiteley.

Some now believe it is only a matter of time before the clock ticks one final time on this once popular TV show.

Michael Jackson Tickets Going Cheap?

Michael Jackson has not only managed to fill the O2 Arena, he has sold all 50 dates in record time. Fans queued outside the venue all night and a quarter of a million waited online as 750,000 tickets to see the King of Pop perform on the 'This Is It' tour - selling at a rate of eleven per second when they went on sale on Friday.

The original ten date O2 Arena tour sold out on Tuesday in pre-sales, but fans still hadn't been able to get hands on tickets as technical problems set in. The Michael Jackson tour has become the fastest selling in history and tickets have already been making their way to ebay - with massive profits for those selling.

Questions have been raised about the health of the 50 year-old pop star and whether Michael will be able to endure such a long residency at London's O2 Arena. With so many tickets being sold, some fans who missed out on the hype may yet bag a bargain if there are a glut of spare tickets on the market. Previous acts like the Spice Girls, sold out tickets in record time yet fans were able to buy cheap tickets via ebay nearer the concert dates.

VIDEO: Joaquin Phoenix Fights At Miami Club

Here is the video of Joaquin Phoenix as he jumps off stage into the Miami night club crowd to confront a heckler. The 34 year old singer was appearing at the LIV night club in the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel last night.

The incident happened around 2am, Joaquin Phoenix had ventured onto the stage wearing a suit and smoking a cigarette but was hardly audible when a member of the audience began heckling the actor-turned -rapper - he jumped into the audience and began beating the man until security came and pulled him away.

The footage was recorded by his brother-in-law Casey Affleck, who just happened to be making a documentary about him. This has lead some to believe the whole thing could have been staged, watch the video below and let me know what you think................

Geri Halliwell Splits From Fiancé

Geri Halliwell has spilt up from her fiancé Fabrizio Politi after just three months according to The Sun newspaper today. Ginger Spice had previously been going out with her backing dancer Ivan Velez until they split, as reported on robmacca's entertainment news back in November.

The former Spice Girl is now 36 years-old and seems destined for the single life as it seems she once again got cold feet. According to a 'source' Geri, "woke up one morning last week and decided she just wasn’t the marrying type. She loved being in a relationship but decided that all she needs is her daughter Bluebell to keep her happy."

Mel C has released a picture with her new baby daughter, Scarlet. As seen on on her website and MySpace page, the official photograph shows a very happy Melanie C with her new arrival. Proceeds from the sale of the picture will be given to charity.

YouTube Removing UK Music Videos

YouTube has begun removing music videos from it's UK website after a dispute about fees with the Performing Rights Society (PRS). The Google owned website aims to remove all UK premium music videos within the next few days unless an agreement between YouTube and PRS can be reached.

The previous deal between PRS, which represents music publishers, has now run out and the Society were looking at striking a much better deal with YouTube but it seems the two are poles apart.

Steve Porter, head of the PRS, said he was "outraged, shocked and disappointed" by the move and said it harmed both music fans and artists, urging YouTube chiefs to reconsider.

Walker suggested that a compromise could be reached, though, saying: "We feel we are so far apart that we have to remove content while we continue to negotiate with the PRS."

Andy Burrows Quits Razorlight

Andy Burrows has quit Razorlight with immediate effect, the drummer said he was leaving for 'personal reasons' and was not at the Razorlight gig at Wolverhampton earlier this week.

The band will continue with their temporary drummer, David Sullivan-Kaplan. Front man Johnny Borrell said, "Over the last two albums and five years Andy has been an integral part of Razorlight and we will miss him. As far as the band's future is concerned, we're all looking forward to touring with Skully and getting on with making our next record."

Andy Burrows said, "I will be pursuing other musical ventures." He released a solo album last year and looks set to continue his musical career without Razorlight.

The Specials To Perform At Oxegen Festival

The Specials have been confirmed for another summer festival, this time the reformed Coventry SKA band will be heading over to Ireland on July 10 - 12 for this years Oxegen Festival at Punchestown Racecourse. As reported earlier The Specials will also be performing at the V Festival in August.

Tickets for Oxegen go on sale March 6 at 8am and will include a new stage, full details can be found on the official website: www.oxegen.ie/2009/ The price has been frozen at 2008 prices, costing 224.50 Euro (incl. booking fee) for 3 day including camping ticket.

The Specials Confirmed For V Festival

The Specials will be performing at this years V Festival, along with other Coventry band, The Enemy. The recently reformed SKA band will be playing on Saturday 22nd August and Sunday 23rd August 2009 at Weston Park in Staffordshire and Hylands Park in Chelmsford.

Headlining the V Festival are Oasis and The Killers, with a whole host of top bands and artists including -Fatboy Slim, Snow Patrol, Keane, Elbow, Razorlight, Ting Tings, Pendulum, MGMT and Lady Ga Ga.

Also appearing will be James, Lily Allen, Katy Perry, The Wombats, James Morrison, Pete Doherty and The Streets..

Oasis Banned From China?

British rockers Oasis have cancelled their dates in China as it appears the Chinese authorities would have banned them because of claims that Noel Gallagher has links to Tibet. The Chinese would be eager to avoid another high profile artist making a public statement on stage, following Bjork much publicised shouting of "Tibet!" at the end of her concert in Shanghai.

Noel and Liam are not the sort of rock stars who don't toe the political line and have spoken out very honestly over the years, so it is likely the band would have cancelled or boycotted China once restrictions were placed upon them. Two dates were scheduled for Beijing's Capital Arena on April 3 and the Shanghai Grand Stage on April 5 to promote the latest Oasis album 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

Oasis will be here in the UK as part of their world tour with The Enemy supporting and Oasis picked up Best British Band last week at the NME Awards.

She told the News of the World, "It was great to do a shoot that was more edgy," she says. "It showed my naughty side, which not many people ever see."
