Comedy Central had to bleep out and censor any references to the so-called Prophet Muhammad in the latest episode of South Park, after Muslim extremists made veiled threats over the episode that depicted Muhammad as a bear.
The controversial cartoon series is no stranger to public outrage, but with comments from an Muslim extremists website warning of the outcome if the episode was showing, prompted Comedy Central to bleep out all references to Muhammad. The website listed the New York headquarters of Comedy Central, the cable television channel that broadcasts the show, and South Park's production company, adding: "You can pay them a visit at these addresses."
The Cougars are coming back to Coventry on Friday 23 April (St Georges Day) and will get the Kasbah rocking with their lively performance. The Cambridge lads are no strangers to Coventry - having previously performed at The Phoenix twice and long time friends of Coventry's The Ripps meant they already know Kasbah.
One of The Cougars songs (check out the words to 'You Having A Good Time Man' on their MySpace page), was inspired after an unexpected night out at the Colosseum and The Cougars have been eager to return back to Coventry for a long time.
If you have not heard The Cougars perform, then get yourself to the Kasbah on Friday evening and celebrate St George's Day in style with the infectious sounds of SKA, indie and punk all rolled into one! The band are so impressive, I was inspired to write these words, "The best new band of 2007 with their fusion of punk/pop and a stage presence that keeps the audience memorised throughout. These guys deserve to be MASSIVE! Well worth watching live!"
It has been confirmed that international singer Shakira will be shaking her hips at Glastonbury festival on Saturday 26th June 2010. The Specials Roddy Radiation was one of the musicians performing at the Spencer Club in Ealsdon, Coventry in a special charity event in memory of Iain 'H' Howard on Saturday April 10. Around 250 people packed into the room to listen, reunite with old friends and dance the night away to rock 'n' roll music.
Roddy Radiation 'It Doesn't Make It Alright'
The acoustic set by Roddy Radiation was part of the line up that was raising money for The Joe Strummer Foundation For New Music. Other familiar faces from the Coventry music scene added their voices to the event and an auction during the night helped raise over a thousand pounds for the charity.
Other acts performing were the Voodoo Kings, Old No7 Band, Burdock with Sam Smith and Ben Rzezuchowski giving an acoustic set.
