Big Brother 9: Lisa Evicted In Close Vote Result

Lisa became the eleventh housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house and left to the loudest cheers of the series. Lisa faced eviction with Sara after housemates nominated the pair in a live Face To Face Nomination earlier this week.

Sara won the public vote to stay in the BB9 house after viewers felt sorry for her after being bullied several times. Just 2.6% separated the two friends but Lisa didn't mind being voted out. She had won £25,000 earlier in the week and got engaged to former housemate and boyfriend, Mario.

Girls Aloud: Search For A New Member

Girls Aloud on stage at Hastings

Girls Aloud are to search for a sixth member in an X Factor style TV show, according to The Sun newspaper. It seems that Cheryl Cole's role on the current series of the X Factor has given Girls Aloud the idea in which they will audition thousands of girls and choose one to join them on stage for a live show.

The selection process will be filmed for a TV talent show, and could be shown next year.

The lucky winner could even be made a permanent understudy, to perform with the band – if one of them can’t make a show. As the pressures build for the 'reality' group, it seems a perfect opportunity for someone else to be added to the band and given the same chance they had through Pop Stars - The Rivals back in 2002.

According to reports, Girls Aloud are currently in talks with a production company to make the programme.

*Since this story first appeared in the Sunday Mirror and various websites, Girls Aloud have said publicly that the story is not true and they are NOT searching for a new member.

The Enemy's Tom Clarke Survives Bottle Attack

Tom Clarke continues @ Reading Festival despite bottle throwing

The Enemy's Tom Clarke continued his performance in front of a massive crowd at the Reading Festival even after someone in the crowd threw a bottle at him. The bottle hit his guitar as he was dedicating the song 'It's Not OK' to the former workers at Peugeot, Coventry. Tom responded by calling him a ""f**king c**t" but then gave a passionate performance.

The Coventry trio have just returned to the UK following their first US tour, where Tom Clarke sliced his finger on the first date but continued with most of the dates. The Enemy will be working hard in the studio as they work on their follow up album to 'We'll Live And Die In These Towns'.

Avril Lavigne Banned From Malaysia

Avril Lavigne is too hot for Malaysia

Avril Lavigne will not be allowed to perform in Malaysia after the government banned her concert scheduled for August 29th claiming the singer was "too sexy" for them.

This follows news that the youth wing of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party had protested Lavigne's appearance, saying they didn't want their teenagers influenced by her performance.

"It is considered too sexy for us...it's not good for viewers in Malaysia," a spokesperson said.
Even if she had been allowed to perform she would have been required to covered from knees to chest and refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.

Babyshambles Banned From Moonfest Festival By Police

Babyshambles on stage (pic: Guardian)

Pete Doherty and Babyshambles have been banned from performing at the Moonfest festival, that was set to take place on August 29-31 in Wiltshire by police, according to the NME website.

Doherty's band were due to play at the bash on the opening Friday night (August 29), but a police investigation into Babyshambles' stage manner led them to draw the conclusion that their performance would be likely to incite violence.

Chief Superintendent Julian Kirby, divisional commander of Wiltshire Police, said: "We carried out an analysis of what Pete Doherty and his band does.

"What he does as part of his routine is to gee up the crowd. They speed up and then slow down the music and create a whirlpool effect in the crowd.

"They [the crowd] all get geed up and then they start fighting."

Police presented their findings to North Wiltshire Magistrates on Monday (August 17), who ordered festival organisers to cancel any appearance from Doherty or Babyshambles.

Reacting to the police's decision, Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek said he was angry, but said that the band would try to organise an alternative show. "The whole thing is a farce, it's almost comical,"

"The organiser of the festival is now on the verge of bankruptcy," he continued. "Why? Because we intentionally speed up and slow down the tempo of our songs. We're now in the process of trying to make it happen in a different venue. Watch this space."

Best known for his role as Harry Potter, actor Daniel Radcliffe has spoken about his brain disorder ahead of Broadway debut in Equus. The nineteen year old has trouble tying his shoelaces because he suffers from dyspraxia. Often the condition is associated with clumsiness and it is estimated 10% of people in Britain shows signs of having the condition with 2% severely affected.

'I was having a hard time at school in terms of being crap at everything, with no discernible talent,' Daniel said. He told how he wanted to be an actor from the age of five but ‘my mother said, “Oh no you don’t.”' When she finally allowed him to audition to play David Copperfield, in a BBC version of the Dickens classic when he was nine, he says it was because she could see he needed a confidence boost.

Daniel Radcliffe then went on to land the role as Harry Potter and became a world wide celebrity estimated to have earned £17m from his involvement with the films. The actor made the headlines when he decided to get naked for his role in Equus, as seen HERE.
Daniel’s spokeswoman said: ‘Yes, Dan Radcliffe does have dyspraxia. This is something he has never hidden. Thankfully his condition is very mild and at worst manifests itself in an inability to ties his shoe laces and bad handwriting.’

Rocky Horror Movie Returns

The Rocky Horror Picture Show set for a return

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is set to return for a new generation, 33 years after it was originally shown at cinemas. The original 1975 film, starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meat Loaf, has become a kitsch classic, with fans often dressing up as the films characters for special screenings.

The new version of Rocky Horror, which was created by Richard O'Brien, will be co-financed by Sky Movies in the UK and MTV in the US and will aim to reach the youth market around the world.

The plot revolves around young American couple Brad and Janet who accidentally stumble into a strange world of alien transvestites and overt sexuality, with some musical results and tunes that have been remembered for a generation.

Lou Adler, executive producer on the original film, will return in the same role and the film will premier on Sky Movies. As yet, no cast or filming has taken place but Richard O'Brien will not be involved with the project.

The original Rocky Horror film cost just $1.2m to make while raking in an estimated $140m at the box office.

Girls Aloud: New Album Update

Girls Aloud are set to end 2008 on a high, with a new album due for release in November and a single in October. It looks like our prediction that Girls Aloud would split in 2008 will prove false as Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Cheryl Cole are working on their fourth studio album.

Even though several of the girls have been involved with different projects, all five remained committed to Girls Aloud for this year's UK tour and are all working hard on the new album. A source has been reported as saying that the girls were very excited about the new album and think it is their best yet.

Their previous albums have all done well in the UK album charts - Sound of the Underground #2 in 2003, What Will The Neighbours Say #6 in Dec 2004, Chemistry #11 in Dec 2005, The Sound Of Girls Aloud - The Greatest Hits #1 in Nov 2006 and Tangled Up #4 in Dec 2007.

David Beckham: Men's Health Magazine Pictures

David Beckham is on the cover of the US Men's Health Magazine following his recent award as the #1 American Sports Athlete by Teen Choice. Here are a selection of pictures of David Beckham taken by Anthony Madler for Men's Health:

Here is part of the interview for Men's Health magazine:

Superstar David Beckham opens up in the September issue of Men's Health magazine, on newsstands August 12, 2008, about his unique formula for success. Having reached the one year milestone of playing for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy, Beckham reflects on bringing notoriety to "football" and to U.S. fans across the pond, choosing his kids over sports, the importance of training in his overall success, and the "madness" that constantly surrounds his family. At age 13, Beckham was discouraged from pursuing soccer from a teacher when he was told, "You'll never play for England, because you're too small and not strong enough." It was those words that set Beckham on a path to change the sport forever.

Peek inside Beckham's workout regime from weight training to practice sessions, and learn how one of the most recognized athletes stays focused when game time comes.

On juggling family and sports...

"There is this madness around me, around my family. Without a doubt, out on the field is where I'm most comfortable, where I'm happiest, because I know what I'm doing, and I know I can do it."

"People always ask me, 'Do you play golf?' Because a majority of sportsmen do. I used to play, quite a few years ago, but to be honest, I'd rather spend 4 hours with the kids than 4 hours on a golf course. As much as it can be relaxing, it's a frustrating sport. My way of relaxing is listening to music and spending time with the kids."

On the growing popularity of soccer in America...

"I never do anything where I don't believe in what I'm doing. I see that something could happen in U.S. soccer. That change isn't going to happen in a year or two. It's more of a 5-, 10-, or even 15-year plan. I believe in it, and I believe that in years to come, this could be one of the biggest sports here in America."

On training and handling stress...

"I'm a really bad loser. It stays with me for a while. I always take it quite personally when we don't win as a team or I don't win in everything else I do."

"I don't worry about any other players. I've always concentrated on what my job is more than anything, more than how good the other team is, no matter who the opponent is-even off the field. If you do your job, then there's nothing else."

"Preseason if where you get the stability for the rest of the season. I'll never perform at my highest level unless I'm 100 percent fit. That's one of my biggest attributes, the energy I've got on the field. For me, training is as important as the games."

"My game's all about moving around the pitch. I went through a stage a few years ago where I lifted a lot of weights and put on about a stone [about 14 pounds] and ended up not being able to run."

On his superstar status...

"To be someone kids look up to is a great honor. What matters is how you carry yourself, off and on the field."

"People always say to me, 'Why would you place yourself in a position where you have to put pressure on yourself?' But it's what gives me energy."

"I know what I'm doing," Beckham says of his fashion style.

On what motivated his success...

Beckham credits his father with helping him harness his focus. "Even if I had a great game he's always say, 'You played well, but these were the mistakes you made.' If I had a bad game, I'd hear all about that. When I was playing for Manchester United, playing something like 200 games and winning European Cup finals, he still wouldn't let me get away with saying, 'I've made it.' So that's one thing I have never done and never will do."

"You'll never play for England, because you're too small and not strong enough," Beckham heard these words from a soccer player at age 13, which led him to his professional career in "football."

BB9: Luke is Evicted From Big Brother

Luke became the seventh person to be evicted from the Big Brother 9 house with 37% of the vote tonight as Davina McCall made the announcement to an excited house.

In a week of drama and excitement Luke was going to be up against house beefcake Dale in a battle The Sun dubbed "Mr Muscle v Mr Muscle". Events took a dramatic turn on Tuesday when Big Brother stripped Stuart of his title as 'Head of House' for talking about nominations. The two way race became a 9 housemate contest, but then Maysoon fell at the last hurdle as she walked out of the BB9 house Wednesday evening.

The bookies and BBBS Poll predicted that Luke Marsden would become the latest eviction victim and phone lines closed 22 hours earlier than normal but still the Wigan funny man lost and will now leave the house and be re-united with his funny other half, Rebecca Shiner.
