Real Reason Susan Boyle Lost Britain's Got Talent

Susan Boyle losing Britain's Got Talent must be one of the biggest shock results this decade has produced from a reality TV series. Watched by 19.2 million viewers on ITV, with millions more watching around the world, this series of BGT became the most popular and talked about.

No-one was more talked about than Susan Boyle, she became an overnight sensation as she became a hit with the judges, audience and the viewers. Millions of hits on YouTube and becoming a TV star in the United States seemed to seal Susan Boyle's fate. Bookies had her as the favourite to win, the newspapers were full of stories about her and the pressures of the final week but ultimately it was the general public who would have the last say as they cast their votes in the millions.

The real reason Susan Boyle lost Britain's Got Talent was because we love losers more than we do winners and while Diversity were no losers, the voting public just couldn't vote Susan Boyle to win because they already felt she had won - thanks to all the additional publicity generated by her previous performances. As Brits we prefer to see someone struggle in life and then make it, rather than someone who is talented and has it all. Although Susan had initially struggled (that is why she won our hearts), by the final she already had it all. Everyone knew she would become a massive star so it was time to give someone else a chance. Looking at the finalists of Britain's Got Talent shows just how much we like those who battle to get somewhere - whether it's Hollie with her tears, proud father and son duo Stavros Flatley or third place runner-up Julian Smith with his saxophone.

Being too good or talented can be a downfall sometimes, as Susan Boyle found out - yet she can be assured that now she is a 'loser' again the British public will love her!

Britain's Got Talent: Susan Boyle Loses!

It's the biggest shock of the decade as Britian's Got Talent favourite, Susan Boyle loses out on winning £100,000 and a chance to perform in front of the Queen during the Royal Variety Performance. That is a headline and situation that seemed almost impossible as bookies favourite Susan Boyle was almost certain to win this year's Britian's Got Talent. The 48-year-old Scottish singer had gained the interest of the worlds media and seemed unstoppable, but by some kind of twisted fate the British public voted her into second place and dance group Diversity stole first place from under her nose.

Here were the ten finalists:

Susan Boyle, singer
Aidan Davis, 11, dancer
Dance troupe Diversity
Father-and-son comedy dance duo Stavros Flatley
Ten-member dance troupe Flawless
Grandfather and granddaughter singing act 2 Grand
12-year-old Welsh singer Shaheen Jafargholi
Saxophonist Julian Smith
Singer Shaun Smith
Hollie Steel

You can re-live the Britain's Got Talent Final on the ITV website.

Naked Madonna and Guy Painting For Sale

This Madonna and Guy Richie painting is up for auction this Saturday in Glasgow and could fetch £22,000. While Madonna may not be a fan of the 2005 painting by Scottish artist Peter Howson, his work has generated a lot of interest since the couple split up.

"It's awful. She looks like an ageing transvestite and Guy looks like a cross between a football hooligan and a pervert," says one source close to the couple. Question is - would you hang this picture up in your home?
UPDATE: The picture didn't sell as it failed to meet the £15,000 reserve price (read more HERE)

Mel B To Find New Spice Girls

Mel B has signed up to VH1 for a new reality programme that aims to search out the 'next Spice Girls'. Scary Spice will be the judge in this X Factor type show that hopes to give a group of girls the chance to become as successful as the Spice Girls.

Melanie Brown has kept herself busy since the end of the Spice Girls tour, with her Ultimo underwear work and she is currently proving she still has talent with her role in 'Peepshow'. Yet she told the Daily Mirror that there would be no future Spice Girls reunion - no matter what money was offered saying, "Noooooo, we wouldn't. The reunion wasn't about money for us - it was about going out on top where we finished."

Jackson UK O2 Tour In Crisis

Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' UK Tour at the O2 Arena is in crisis as thousands of fans have been left disappointed with the shock announcement that the first four dates have been rescheduled. Angry Jackson fans have been told they would have to wait until March 2010, so instead of having the second, third and fourth shows - they will get the very last performances from the tour.

According to promoters AEG Live, Michael Jackson needed more time for dress rehearsals saying, "This show has grown in size and scope, thereby necessitating more lead time for manufacture of the set, programming the content for the massive video elements, and, most importantly, more time for full production and dress rehearsals."

The cancellation of the opening four dates has pushed the whole Jackson Tour into fresh doubt and concerns that fans could be left out of pocket.

Affected Dates:
8 July - moved to 13 July, 2009
10 July - moved to 1 March, 2010
12 July - moved to 3 March, 2010
14 July - moved to 6 March, 2010

The Selector To Reform?

The Selector have given their strongest hint yet that they could reform after watching fellow Coventry band The Specials perform their highly praised homecoming gig over the weekend.

Bassist Charley Anderson, pictured far right with Noel Gallagher at The Specials Ricoh gig, spoke to the Coventry Telegraph about the possiblity of The Selector reforming saying,
"There are vibrations in the air, it's up to demand - if the fans want it, it's going to happen."

The Selector were awarded a star on Coventry's 'Walk of Fame' on Friday and Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson was at the event saying, "It's amazing after all this time. It's good to know there's still so much interest."

Thirty years ago two-tone music was defining a generation and The Selector were part of that movement with 'On My Radio' making it to number eight in the UK charts, while The Specials were number ten with 'A Message To You Rudy/ Nite Club' in October 1979.

Eurovision Viewing Figures Improve

The wet weather seems to have lifted this years viewing figures for the Eurovision Song Contest on BBC1. As Norway romped to victory with Alexander Rybak's 'Fairytale', the UK enjoyed it's highest score since 1998 with Jade Ewen finishing fifth, performing 'It's My Time'.

No expense was spared as Russia spent £20m putting on the best stage event ever seen during the 54 years of Eurovision. Viewing figures peaked as the final results came in - with almost 10m tuning in to finds out how the UK had fared in the contest. Over on ITV, Britain's Got Talent was watched by 9.8m - down on previous weeks but

The Specials Bring Carnival To Coventry

The Specials returned to Coventry and turned the Ricoh Arena into one big carnival as 8,000 partied the night away to the sounds of SKA. An army of pork pie hats and two tone clothing bounced up and down to every tune belted out by The Specials in what has been described as 'one of the best gigs ever' by those who attended this historic homecoming by Coventry's most famous band.

Thirty years ago many in the audience would have been among those who would have been part of stage invasions or sporting a skin head haircut, but time had changed their appearance - the hair was now gone but not by choice! This time around the crowds were respectful and no invasions were needed, chants of 'rude boy' ecohed around the Jaguar Hall after each song as a carnival atmosphere filled the venue. Outside the rain poured down in Coventry and many inside may have been victims of the economic downturn but tonight everyone was able to forget their problems and indulge in teenage memories with The Specials taking centre stage.

The Specials delivered a memorable gig, proving Terry Hall and co had lost none of their magic even after decades apart. Lynval Golding told the adoring crowds, "It's good to be back home in Coventry", to which he received rapturous cheers. Coventry was glad their hero's had returned home - after all this was the city of two-tone, rich in cultural and musical history. Classic songs such as 'Blank Expression', 'Friday Night, Saturday Morning' and 'Doesn't Make It Alright' had everyone joining in - both dancing and singing in a carnival atmosphere. The Ripps provided apt support with a blend of SKA infused, socially aware music.

Eurovison Viewing Figures To Drop

Eurovision looks set to lose even more viewers this year as the song contest once again goes head-to-head with ITV's Britain's Got Talent.

Viewing figures could well drop below seven million for the annual song contest with UK viewers opting for comfort with British talent rather than the prospect of a humiliating finish in Eurovision.

Last year 7.1m watched the Eurovision Song Contest as Andy Abraham came joint last and Terry Wogan bowed out after 30 years of hosting the event. This year less than 7m are expected to tune in as Jade performs 'It's My Time' for the UK. She is looks set to be a surprise hit with voters as the song has been well received across Eurpope and looks set for a decent result. Britain's Got Talent has been enjoying weekly viewing figures above the 11m mark as the programme continues to make headlines around the world, and could help end the UK's love/hate relationship with Eurovision. Two years ago 8.7m viewers were watching Eurovision on the BBC but a dip below 7m could raise calls for the long running event to be axed amid cries of block voting and frustration.

Whatever the result, British viewers will be glued to their TV sets watching men and women desperate for their 15 minutes of fame...................

Eurovision Song Contest: Jade - 'It's My Time' UK Video

The Eurovision Song Contest is upon us once again - so get out your flags, download your score cards and get the party started as the 54th Eurovision extravaganza kicks off on BBC3 tonight. This year there will be two semi-finals (Tues 12 / Thurs 14 May) as 18 countries battle it out in the first heat and 19 in the second semi-final selection.

Then the fireworks really kick off on Saturday night as Russia hosts the 25 finalists with Graham Norton taking over the mantle from long running host Terry Wogan. The rules have changed amid cries of block voting - now the points will be half phone votes, half music panel but you can be rest assured the results will still be no surprise.

Can the UK score more than the 14 points (25th) Andy Abraham scored last year in Belgrade, Serbia? Will favourites Norway win the contest? Would Cyprus award 12 points to Greece yet again?

Katie Price and Peter Andre Split - Where Next?

Katie Price (Jordan) and Peter Andre have finally announced they are splitting up, after months of media speculation. The celebrity couple who found love during ITV's 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' in 2004, were quickly married the following year and have two children - Junior, three, and Princess Tiaamii, who is almost two.

He was once and pop star and she a glamour model, then together they became a brand product trying to rival her arch enemy - the Beckhams. Together the couple ran marathons, created music and accepted any reality programme on offer. Katie and Peter made the headlines and the millions from their media brand but soon the 'fairytale' romance was wilting at the edges as more and more stories emerged about their strained relationship.

While their management company made the statement saying they, "both requested that the media respect their families' privacy at this difficult time", it is only a matter of time before one or both sell their inside story to Hello or OK magazine. The question remains - Where next?

Could we see Jordan making a comeback spread semi-naked across a batch of lad mags, promoting her latest book detailing the darkest secrets from her marriage to Peter Andre? Will Peter Andre disappear into oblivion like his record career or will he climb back onto the reality bandwagon, appearing on a TV show near you soon?

Chances are the media management company that have run the Katie Price/Peter Andre brand have already penciled in 'plan B', meaning the public will still see them trying to cling onto fame as the light fades on their relationship.

PICTURE: Victoria Beckham Without Make-Up

Victoria Beckham without make-up is rare to see but the picture above reveals a 'normal' looking woman devoid of the Posh image we are normally accustomed to seeing. Victoria was pictured after her two hour workout at a Beverly Hills gym, apparently she runs eight miles a day on the treadmill!

Beckham has been described as 'normal' by gym members who told the Daily Mail, "Posh is always low-key when she comes here."
"She wears normal gym gear and is always happy to hang out and have a juice and a chat afterwards."
"She’s remarkably normal and doesn’t seem to care if people see her sweaty with no make-up on."
"She’s confident in her looks and actually looks way better without all the war paint slapped on."

Victoria looked slim and toned in the latest Armani underwear picture this week and attributed her look to working out.

Fears For 'Skinny' Sarah Harding

Concerns are growing for Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud as she continues to lose weight. The 27 year-old was captured on camera by Alan Chapman (seen below) and is a far cry from the healthier fuller figure seen on the left.

Sarah Harding is currently on tour with Girls Aloud as they go 'Out Of Control' around the UK, but questions have been raised as the chart topping blonde bombshell looks gaunt and frail in recent public appearances. She may have sung the words, 'No Good Advice' yet now Sarah could do with heeding some good advice and eating a good meal or two! Once the face of Ultimo underwear - Harding had the figure women would die for and men lust over, could the touring have taken it's toll finally?

Her DJ boyfriend, Tom Crane has come to Sarah's defence saying, "It doesn't bother her but it's not fair because she eats well and if she's hungry, she will eat. She works it off from dancing and exercising, that's why, plus she has a good metabolism." The couple are planning on getting married as reported HERE.

Meanwhile, Sarah Harding could be heading to America for more acting work once the Girls Aloud tour finishes on June 6th. Top talent agency are apparently interested in setting up some work for Sarah, having been impressed with her acting in the upcoming BBC drama 'Freefall'.

Richard and Judy Quit Chat Show

Richard and Judy have announced they have quit their chat show on Watch TV, ending a 20 year award winning partnership. The show comes to an end on July 3rd and the couple will not be returning together in the near future.

The shows format failed to attract viewers - falling to a low of 8,000 and a far cry from the millions who tuned in during their time at Channel 4 and ITV. The couple have always been honest about the venture to Watch TV and said, "Some you win, some you lose. It's a shame we couldn't get this one to fly because both we and our brilliant young production team were genuinely proud of the show and the guests it attracted."

"But it became obvious that it wasn't the right fit with a brand new pay-for-view digital channel. TV is all about taking risks and that means sometimes you fail. It was a really worthwhile experiment and we don’t regret it at all."

No future projects have been announced yet, Richard and Judy have not ruled out working independently from each other as well as together.

New 'Abba' Song Returns To Eurovision Style

It's Eurovision season and it looks like ABBA have returned with a song made for the song contest. OK, slightly misleading as only half of ABBA have returned and the song isn't actually in the Eurovision Song Contest!

The bearded half of ABBA (yes the men!) - Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus are returning to their pop roots with their first pop songs in fifteen years and I've got to admit they are pretty damn good ( I'm a sucker for Euro pop and all things tacky). The video below entitled "Second Best To None" was written by the ABBA duo and features employees from the Hotel Rival in Stockholm.

The ABBA men have enjoyed a good working relationship since the demise of ABBA and enjoyed acclaimed success with Chess the musical in the 80's and other projects. The Benny Andersson Band will be releasing their English translation material in the UK on July 6th.

Maybe we could get ABBA to work on our Eurovision entry song for next year.............

Sarah Harding Set For Traditional Wedding

Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding will be having a traditional English wedding if her DJ boyfriend Tom Crane has his way. Speaking to the Sunday People he told the newspaper that the couple had been looking at wedding rings during their recent Dubai holiday.

Tom told the newspaper, ""I want the top and tails, more subtle than a celebrity wedding. I'd like to get married in a country church in the middle of nowhere. It will be old school, I like Olde England. I really don't want to do it on a beach somewhere with loads of people from the club industry. I want my family and friends there."

Sarah Harding and Tom Crane have been together for two years after meeting during one of Tom's DJ sets at London's Mahiki nightclub. The couple also bought a £1m home together last year. Speaking of their sex lives Tom revealed, ""We have a very good, active sex life. When we haven't seen much of one another we really make up for it in bed. We have passionate sex and when the moment takes us it gets pretty heated."

Twitter Hacked

Twitter has been hacked, with internal security being compromised by a French hacker. Known as 'Croll', the hacker posted screen grabs of his exploits on a French forum to prove what he had been able to do.

Croll had been able to log into the account of Jason Goldman, Twitter’s director of product management. The embarrassment was confirmed by Twitter founder Biz Stone, who said that “unauthorized access” was gained by an outside party this week, but only 10 individual accounts were viewed during this unlawful access period.

Since the hack, security has been stepped up and all areas are being looked at to avoid further compromises. The hacker claims to have been able view famous accounts like Lily Allen, Britney Spears, U.S President Barack Obama and with over a million Twitter followers, Ashton Kutcher. Twitter has become this year's must-have social website with growth rates of 1382% in February alone.
