Take That

Over shadowed by my love of all things Eurovision, I've almost forgotten that I'm off to see Take That in Manchester this Sunday with my friend Norm (visit his Blog, the link is on the right hand side of this page!).

So far all the reviews and comments about the Take That Reunion Tour have been good, so hopefully we won't be too tired Sunday. I think we'll both be tired Monday as Norm has a long journey home back to London and then work, I've got the drive home from Manchester - then work.

I'm looking forward to seeing my Melanie C friends - Emma and Shaz as well..........

Eurovision Fact

I'm just watching a programme on the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, and noticed that when the UK's Jemini scored"Nil" points in 2003, it was the 15th song that night in the running order.
Well, on Saturday - Daz Sampson will be 15th in the running order ................... could it be a curse and we get "Nil" points in 2006?

Maybe he'll get points for the school uniforms alone................................................

Matt's BBQ Pictures

Visit : http://www.thisismatthew.co.uk/ for more pictures and comments.

It was my first outdoor BBQ of the summer season and fun was to be had by all, it may not have been the hottest of days but the company and food were great. We had a very relaxing Sunday afternoon, and I had a blast!

Big Brother v Eurovision Semi Final

It's the clash of the titans on Thursday as Channel 4 launches Big Brother 7 as BBC3 airs the Eurovision Song Contest Semi Final.

While Big Brother will win audience wise , I've decided NOT to tune in and watch it. That way I'll hopefully not let myself get hooked over the summer, wasting hours of precious time. It annoys me they put the launch day to a Thursday instead of the usual Friday and this year BB is even longer.
Call me evil, but I'm hoping it flops rating wise - it's about time Channel 4/E4 made quality educational programmes rather than this mindless dribble that hooks suckers like me each year!

Now, sad is something I am cos instead I'll be watching BBC3 and the Eurovision Song Contest Semi Final. Yet it's my day off on Friday so a great opportunity to go out and get drunk Thursday night - so if I stay in and watch it, then I'll have missed the chance to get drunk on a Thursday and NOT have to get up for work (unlike last week!).

I'll let you know Friday whether I buckled under pressure and watched BB7 or was sad and stayed in to watch the Eurovision Semi Final rather than going out to have a good night out.........

New Housemate, New Hair cut!

I had a new housemate move in about 3 weeks ago and I have to admit - I'm loving it!
We get on really well cos we work together and socialise together.
Normally I just do my own thing and leave my housemate to get on with their own life but Andy is the best housemate I've had since I originally bought the house 13 years ago. Little things like making each other cuppa's or doing dinner together - there's a good chilled out vibe here and boy DO we have a laugh taking the p*** out of each other. Let's hope it stay's like this for a long time to come.........................

Ignore the fact I look like a spoon in the pictures, but I had my hair trimmed on Thursday and its even darker than before - quite black. I'm still making the most of my long hair, even though I don't know how much longer I'll keep it like that.

So my new housemate, my hair and myself went out the other night and drank way too much alcohol - staying out til 2am is not a good idea when your alarm is set for 03:20am!

Eurovision - The "Party"

All this talk of the Eurovision Song Contest has got me in hyper mode, so now I'm gonna finally have a bit of a Eurovision "party". It's gonna be a few people around mine on Saturday, printed score pads, beer, food and a night of cheesy music thanks to Europe.............................

Eurovision 2006 Video's - Pick of the best

Here are some of this years best video's for the Eurovision Song Contest: (Click below to watch)

1. Moldova

2. Croatia

3. Belgium

4. Greece

5. Iceland (for entertainment alone!)

Finally, out of loyalty to the United Kingdom - Here is the British entry by Daz Sampson:

Pet Shop Boys and Ordinary Boys

I've just seen the video for the new Pet Shop Boys single "I'm with stupid" and it's a true return to form for the lads who have bought us such hits as "West End Girls", "It's a Sin" and "What Have I Done To Deserve This?". The video is another classic!
You can listen to a little clip of the single on the HMV website:
http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=500727 or visit the Pet Shop Boys website for more information: http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/

Next up is the brand new single by The Ordinary Boys "Nine2Five" featuring Lady Sovereign. If you like the Two Tone/Madness type music, then this song is for you. I happen to love it and it's a cracking follow up to "Boys Will Be Boys". Well done Preston and the gang - you can watch a clip from the video here: http://exodus.interoutemediaservices.com/?id=105e0ab8-ee57-467c-8667-ad44fa80bf06&delivery=stream/”target= or visit their official website for more info at: http://www.theordinaryboys.co.uk/

Two good British songs that prove we can still make good music (OK, so we're crap at Eurovision now.............!!)

Eurovision - Weird and Wonderful

It wouldn't be Eurovision without the fantastic costumes and outrageous dance moves. As the pictures above show - Eurovision 2006 next week will not let us down. I've just seen Iceland's rehearsal via YouTube.com and if that's anything to go by - it's going to be a night to remember. Each year we get a few countries like Germany that make Eurovision such fun to watch.
So whether it's bad costumes or bad tunes, Eurovision is one televisual event not to be missed.

(I've not even got on to the subject of voting, that's a whole new topic of discussion..........)

Eurovision - My Hot Tip

Greece - Anna Vissi - "Everything"

While all the bets may be on Belgium's Kate Ryan to win this years final in Greece, my early favourite to win is Anna Vissi's beautiful ballad "Everything". It grabbed my attention after the second listen and I'm loving the video. It's a proper song by a proper artist, I think Anna will be giving Kate a run for her money next Saturday night.

You can see all the video's on the BBC website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/eurovision/2006/contestants/

So far Greece gets my 12 points, but with just over one week left it could all change.
